Burkina Faso Day 216

When expressed in terms of days its seems like I have been here a long time, but 7 months, is a relatively short period of time in one's lifetime.

But after 7 months, I am happy to report, I am still here! I spent the past week in Ouagadougou. I arrived mon Monday, and I had planned on leaving this morning but all the buses to Bobo were full so here I am stuck in ouagadougou another day. there are worse things trust me. I actually don`t mind Ouaga as much as I did when i first arrived! In fact, I think I like more than Bobo now!

I am secretely hoping that my next placement is in Ouaga. I think I have had it with Bobo, and honestly, Bobo is pretty boring compared to Ouaga. And, I have friends in Ouaga. Not the case in Bobo, other than a couple of volunteers and of course my sweety pie.

I am in Ouaga because we were supposed to go to Dori (norther Burkina) on tuesday for a meeting wish some peeps from VSO, but with the advice of the Canadian embassy, the trip was cancelled. It would have been too much of a risk for our safety, even with military type escorts!

So, I have been hanging out with Jolyann and Ngaba and a few others. I also met some interesting
Canadians who are here as the wives of men who are working in gold mines here, sent from Canada. Yesturday we were used as guinea-pigs for a local gym-trainer who was learning how to be an aerobics instructor. I joked that we were the Desperate Housewives of Ouagadougou... men at work and the wives at home in the pool with the hot muscular trainer.

Other than that, found another spot that serves delicious hamburgers. I also had to fight off a few guys while hanging around Downtown. It is crazy how attractive my skin color is to some people. To a point where it can be really annoying. It doesn`t happen often, but I felt really white.

Anyhooo, I figured I would write a little note, since it seems if I go too long without writing people assume I am dead. really. Stop worrying, life is not that hard here. Geeez.
